LESSON DESCRIPTION: Kitchen safety,tool usage and measuring techniques are taught. The four food groups/food pyramid, food handling/safety, shopping/grocery lists are covered. All kinds of eggs, puddings and thickeners will be included. The basics of planning a menu, table settings and entertaining will be practiced. There will be a demonstration of a recipe during each class. Then, the students will follow a recipe and make the folowing over the course of the 9 weeks: Biscuits and Scones, Muffins, Pie Crust, Fillings, Egg Rolls, Fried Rice, all kinds of Eggs, Puddings and Parfaits, Whipped Cream, Butter, Meringue and Breads.
