LESSON DESCRIPTION: Students will learn the basics of hand sewing and how to use a sewing machine. Skills they will learn include how to sew a button, how to sew with elastic, how to put in a zipper, how to read patterns, how to cut fabric properly and how to mend and repair. From making a pillow case to creating their own piece of wearable clothing, the goal is to show the students just how much they can do with a sewing machine. Instructor designed curriculum will be combined with professional instruction to present engaging projects for creative young students.
