LESSON DESCRIPTION: Beginning ceramics starts with the introduction and use of wet clay. Students will start with hand building and then move to wheel throwing pottery. Instruction in coil building and mold making will be delivered. Students will get introduced to the firing and glazing processes, rendering functional and food safe pottery. Different techniques such as under glazing, handle pulling, personalized stamp making, throwing off the hump, sectionals and sketchbook planning will all be taught and practiced.
