SEWARD- Science of Reading

Are you interested in understanding how kids learn to read, and the factors involved in this process? For many children, reading happens almost magically with bedtime stories and a little “Sesame Street”.

How does this happen, and why do some kids struggle to make progress?

Research over the past couple decades has shown that our brains are not wired for reading at birth, and many children need explicit instruction to make these connections.

Join Laura at our Seward Office as she presents the basics of The Science of Reading (I promise we won’t get too technical!), and provide practical information about instruction methods & effective intervention strategies that are supported by the research.

Whether your child is just learning the ABCs or is an older, struggling reader, you are invited to attend!  We will begin with a short Storytime for PreK – 3rd grade kids. Then parents will join Laura for a presentation and Q&A session while the kids work with Julie on a Valentine craft. (Older kids are invited to participate or be a helper.)

Please RSVP through the What’s Happening!
